VaporStream Opens Platform, Allows Confidential Messaging To Anyone

Subscribers can now send private messages to nonsubscribers
CHICAGO, IL, February 14, 2011 – VaporStream, providers of the VaporStream confidential messaging service, today announced its subscribers can now send private messages to non-subscribers. VaporStream is an inherently secure messaging service, enabling professionals to communicate without fear of confidential dialogue and information being compromised after delivery. VaporStream messages literally “vaporize” after being read. Previously, both a sender and recipient needed to be members of the service. However, new enhancements now allow members to send secured messages to anyone inside or outside of the VaporStream network.

VaporStream eliminates damaging information compromises and regulatory compliance infractions that can occur with e-mail, instant and text messaging because its messages are never recorded. Unlike other forms of messaging, they cannot be copy/cut/pasted, forwarded, printed or saved, preventing sensitive information from being viewed by unintended parties. Messages are covered by TLS encryption during transit to protect against eavesdropping. Patented technology also splits the message header from the body to prevent meaningful end point screen grabs.

“Businesses and law firms are coming to appreciate the need to use technology to protect the privileged nature of attorney-client communications, trade secrets, intellectual property, personal information that is subject to breach laws and other sensitive material," said Jon Neiditz, an attorney and partner with Nelson Mullins, a national law firm with strong global technology, intellectual property, information management, entrepreneurial deal and complex litigation practices. “In our digital world, once a message hits an external recipient's server, there is no way to assure that it won't be replicated, backed up and forwarded without end. VaporStream effectively prevents sensitive information from getting there, directly or indirectly.

“Since you can’t always count on the other party being a VaporStream subscriber, it’s a huge benefit to be able to send messages to non-members,” continued Neiditz. “VaporStream provides the convenience of electronic messaging, while ensuring private, confidential and privileged communications remain that way. Having seen first-hand how unintended messaging misuse and inevitable replication can cause costly and embarrassing legal and reputation problems, I believe this technology, used appropriately and in the context of a good electronic resources policy, is a ‘must-have’ for any company wanting to fully protect itself from such risk.”

For VaporStream member-to-member communications, all messaging interactions remain completely recordless. Non-members, however, receive an email notification and link that takes them to their VaporStream messages. Non-members can continue to respond to and interact with members in this fashion, or, they can become members themselves by enrolling in a free, no obligation 30-day trial of the service.

“Traditional messaging channels are fraught with risk because the message content simply cannot be controlled by the sender after it is delivered,” said Jack Hembrough, CEO of VaporStream. “VaporStream provides control by ensuring that messages can only be read once before they disappear, forever. With this new service extension, there are no limits to the range of people who can benefit from VaporStream.”

VaporStream is a software-as-a-service solution designed for enterprises of all sizes. It is particularly suited for industries that must communicate highly sensitive information, such as law, healthcare, government, military intelligence and insurance. Analysts from Gartner named VaporStream to its prestigious “Cool Vendors in Healthcare Providers” list.

The service enables individual users to send, receive and be notified of new messages on their computer desktop and a broad range of mobile devices through simple to install, tightly integrated clients. A VaporStream Enterprise Server (VES) is also offered for large, company-wide deployments. The VES provides administrators with easy provisioning, enhanced management and additional control over message content that includes keyword filtering.

VaporStream delivers carrier-class availability with a highly redundant infrastructure housed in multiple Tier 1 facilities. All servers in the network are hardened on multiple levels to ensure system security. VaporStream does not require certified administrators to set up and use.

The service costs only $7.50 per user, per month, and can be evaluate for free for 30 days with no obligation. Customer support is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For more information, visit www.vaporstream.com.
