Trend Micro Comments On Senate Cybersecurity Act

Announced support for the legislation

CUPERTINO, Calif., July 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trend Micro Inc. (TYO: 4704;TSE: 4704), the global leader in cloud security, today announced support for the U.S. Cybersecurity Act of 2012 authored by Senators Lieberman, Senator Collins, Senator Rockefeller and Senator Feinstein. Cybersecurity enterprises cannot act alone in a hostile cyberspace wherein organized hacking creates systemic risk. The sustainability of the American economy is interdependent with our nation's public and private sector preparedness against cyberattack.

"It is in our best interest for the US economy to sustain e-commerce by providing higher levels of security for federal agencies and creating a standard of care for critical infrastructures. As buildings adhere to fire codes so to must critical infrastructures develop cybersecurity codes," said Tom Kellermann, VP, Cybersecurity, Trend Micro. "As evidenced by the CSIS Commission on Cybersecurity for the 44th President findings, it has become self-evident that our nation necessitates balanced legislation in order to preserve our national and economic security."
