Lieberman Software Adds RSA SecurID Authentication

Account Reset Console 5.0 offers protection for sensitive user account passwords, plus enterprise performance and scalability
LOS ANGELES, June 8, 2009 -- Lieberman Software today announced Account Reset Console 5.0, which offers increased protection for sensitive user account passwords and enhanced enterprise performance and scalability. The new version adds RSA SecurID authentication and native support for 64-bit Windows environments. RSASecurID integration provides multi-factor authentication capability, ensuring that only staff with physical possession of a hardware authenticator and properly provisioned credentials can access passwords through Account Reset Console.

"Two-factor authentication is an essential security requirement for many of our largest customers," said Chris Stoneff, product manager at Lieberman Software. "By combining the two-factor authentication of RSA SecurID with support for 64-bit environments we're providing a secure password reset solution that will perform optimally in the largest, most secure enterprises for years to come."

Other new features in Account Reset Console 5.0 include:

  • High availability web site " Provides licenses for two installations, allowing separate consoles to communicate with the same database and synchronize with each other.
  • Multiple verification notification " Alerts IT staff after multiple self-verification failures, preventing potential brute force attacks.
  • User-selected verification " Allows users to choose from IT defined verification questions for ease of use enrollment.

About Account Reset Console Account Reset Console strengthens enterprise security by enabling a strict password reset regimen. It allows end-users to unlock their own accounts via the Windows Logon page, or through a web interface, without involving IT staff. The product addresses one of the most common problems encountered by IT groups in large organizations " users losing access to systems because of forgotten or expired passwords. According to an April 2009 report from Forrester Research titled During Tough Economic Times, IT Leadership Will Rely On I&O To Drive Cost Savings, "Automation and self-service technologies, such as software distribution and password resets, can free up an overworked service desk to focus on bigger problems."1 By permitting delegated users to reset their own passwords or unlock their own accounts, Account Reset Console helps maintain high productivity levels. End-users do not lose access to critical systems for extended periods of time, while organizations can reduce dependency on 7/24 Help Desk requirements and allow IT staff to pursue more strategic initiatives.

With a series of scheduled and on-demand reports, Account Reset Console enhances an organization's existing oversight control measures and helps maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, PCI DSS, and other regulatory standards. It provides a full audit trail of password changes and can close potential security breaches by automatically locating and disabling stale user accounts.

Account Reset Console is certified for Microsoft Windows Vista, and is also compatible with Windows NT/2000/XP/Server 2003/Server 2008, as well as mobile devices such as Microsoft Pocket PC and other PDAs. It interfaces with any SQL-capable database, and deploys without installing agents on client systems, ensuring interoperability and integration with an organization's existing IT infrastructure.
