Hi
I should think that it's important to do a very good background check on the head of your department and it's important to look and see where the priorities of this person lies! Their attitude towards the financial data and protection of the company's assets would count for a big chunk of how the top management views this person's suitability towards the company and it's important that the objectives must be in line.
