The anger passwords engender
I wish someone would do a large scale study to figure out why we get so angry about having to use user ID's and passwords. There are times when I swear someone is about to get violent over having made repeated, unsuccesful attempts to access something only to be denied due to "incorrect information". Certainly people have damaged equipment--their own as well as work equipment--in frustration at having been denied.

"But I know my user name and password!! What is wrong with this effin computer???!!!" The frustrated user will exclaim--with a look of psychotic anger emblazened on their face.

Now, times that by however many users you have in an office and you can feel the nightmare grow. Sometimes getting something fixed isn't just about making things work properly: sometimes it's a necessity in order to avoid great bodily injury.

It can get downright scary.
