Anthony Aurigemma of Anomali and Vlad Melnik with Cribl stop by the Dark Reading News Desk during Black Hat USA to discuss the intended synergies between Anomali's security management platform and the advanced data analytics for which Cribl is well known.

Anomali's platform handles threat assessments, decision making, and automating tasks; the vendor also brings threat intelligence to the table. For its part, Cribl is a vendor-agnostic product for data management and analysis that selects, collects, processes, and even enriches an organization's data.

"Our whole goal is to say, 'Look, you need to escape where you blocked all these things together in pieces ... it's holding you back'," says Anomali's Aurigemma, adding that the company's platform was built with that intent of obliterating all these silos — with the key being data. "And that's why the Cribl partnership is so beautiful, because what we're trying to get access to the data. What Cribl is doing is liberating the data and bringing it to us in a very clean, usable fashion, very fast speed, Aurigemma adds. "And then we empower the security analyst to work."

Anomali has also recently made available its own custom copilot for AI applications. The feature allows organizations to add data that's outside of the normal telemetry, incorporating the customer's own specialized data, which opens up lots of new, intriguing use cases, according to Aurigemma. "This gets into things like fraud that you couldn't do simply by looking at traditional rule sets," he says.

Anthony Aurigemma is a seasoned senior executive with more than two decades of experience spanning technology sales, business development, strategic alliances, services, and operations.
