Daniel P. Kent

Director, Public Sector Engineering & CTO, Cisco Systems

Daniel Kent is the Chief Technology Officer for the Cisco Systems Public Sector organization. His group assists government transformation by delivering technologies, services, and offerings into public sector vertical markets including DoD, education, government, and healthcare. Currently, his team is focusing on integrating technologies like cloud computing, IoT, software-defined networking, cybersecurity, and collaboration.

An expert technologist, he speaks at many conferences and events on future technologies, enterprise architecture, and technology leadership. He is frequently quoted on telework, cloud computing, IoT, certifications, and cybersecurity in government periodicals.  

Mr. Kent has worked in the public sector communications field for over 25 years. Mr. Kent's prior positions include 10 years at Nortel Networks as the Director of Engineering and as a senior consulting engineer for Network Solutions, Inc.  

Mr. Kent is a graduate of the University of Maine, where he received a bachelor's degree and holds a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University.
