Bill brings over 30 years of technology and security experience to his role as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Executive Vice President of Engineering at Black Duck Software. Previously, Bill was CTO of Verdasys, a leader in information and cyber security. Prior to Verdasys, he was a co-founder and VP of Engineering at Avalere, which was acquired by Iron Mountain Digital. Bill also served as the initial VP of Marketing and Business Development at Virtual Iron (later acquired by Oracle), and held a number of executive positions at SpeechWorks, a leader in speech-based solutions that IPO'd in 2000 and later merged with ScanSoft/Nuance in 2003. Prior to SpeechWorks, Bill held senior marketing positions at Stratus Computer. He started his career in engineering positions at HP and IBM. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and a MBA from Harvard University.
