With almost 20 years of experience as an industry analyst, Alan supports Omdia clients by researching, advising, or speaking on governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) markets and technologies, as well as on IT governance and security.  His broad focus is on enabling vendors, service providers, and enterprises to express and understand the essential linking of security requirements to business drivers. In this capacity, Alan has successfully developed key content for subjects including digital- and cybersecurity-related risk and governance; GRC markets and technologies; data governance and risk, especially as they relate to privacy and to the law on data protection in the EU and the European Economic Area known as General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR; and the organizational implementation and practices of these technology areas.

Prior to becoming an industry analyst, Alan worked in IT services and served as a business/systems analyst in the IT department of large enterprises.
