PRESS RELEASE
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- WhiteHat Security, the Web security company, today announced an update to Sentinel Source, the company's revolutionary Static Code Analysis solution that enables development teams to quickly and cost-effectively develop secure code as they go, minimizing exposure to risk and security breaches early in the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The update adds support for analyzing source code built on Microsoft's ASP.NET platform including the most popular .NET frameworks: .NET MVC and Entity Framework.
This latest enhancement to Sentinel Source also allows developers using these frameworks to integrate WhiteHat's leading application security testing solutions into all stages of the SDLC, from testing code on the very first day of development with Sentinel Source to production-safe testing of live websites and applications via WhiteHat's award-winning Sentinel dynamic application security testing (DAST) product line.
"This latest update is part of our commitment to build the fastest, most accurate, and most flexible source code analysis tool to meet the needs of modern web-development teams that enable secure Agile development methods," said Jerry Hoff, vice president of the Static Code Analysis Division at WhiteHat Security. "Development teams are looking for a solution that can fully test and continually verify the security of applications throughout the entire development process with virtually no disruption and wait times, and with Sentinel Source they achieve just that."
Sentinel Source tests Web applications throughout development, giving developers and security teams detailed remediation guidance to enable fixes early in the SDLC to address critical security issues, reduce risk, cost and resource-strain.
Integration with WhiteHat's Sentinel DAST product line and leading Web application firewalls provides a comprehensive view of vulnerabilities in already deployed applications and allows for quick remediation through targeted virtual patching. Finally, Sentinel Source uniquely preserves the integrity of intellectual property by eliminating the need for source code to leave the premises, while still allowing clients to access WhiteHat's cloud-based verification services.
"Time and time again, research by WhiteHat Security and others have shown that making new code free of vulnerabilities from the ground up is the lowest cost and fastest time-to-market solution for remediation," said Stephanie Fohn, CEO of WhiteHat Security. "Increasingly, companies are looking to build security processes into development from the beginning. Application security platforms such as Sentinel Source are becoming a seamlessly integrated part of that process."
