PRESS RELEASE

BOXBOROUGH, Mass. - December 17, 2008 - Crossbeam Systems, Inc., the leading provider of next-generation security platforms for high-performance networks, today announced that the latest version of the Sourcefire 3D System from Sourcefire (NASDAQ:FIRE), comprising the Sourcefire 3D Sensor and Real-Time Network Awareness (RNA) powered by open source SNORT, is now available on its X-Series Next Generation Security Platform. The Sourcefire 3D System 4.8 delivers the industry's first adaptive intrusion prevention capabilities to secure large enterprise network assets against all forms of security threats.

"Through Crossbeam's iBeam ISV certification program, the Sourcefire 3D System 4.8 has been proven to provide the strongest levels of protection, while working at optimum performance levels on the X-Series in customer environments," said Chet Gapinski, vice president of engineering for Crossbeam. "Customers can now easily combine a best-of-breed firewall from Checkpoint and a best-of-breed IPS from Sourcefire in a serialized environment, creating a true next-generation firewall solution."

Crossbeam enables customers to consolidate their security infrastructure on a carrier-class scalable security platform that virtualizes the delivery of best-of-breed security applications. The X-Series is the highest-performing security platform, tested to wire-line rates of 40 gigabytes per second (Gbps) with ultra-low latency, providing unprecedented levels of scale and flexibility to support the security requirements of large enterprise and carrier networks. Customers use the X-Series to protect their internal networks and deliver a new generation of virtualized services such as firewall, VPN and intrusion prevention, while reducing the cost and complexity of security services deployment within their data centers.

Sourcefire RNA allows users to reduce the overall resources dedicated to managing and monitoring IPS deployments. Not only does RNA dramatically decrease the number of false positives, but the RNA Recommended Rules feature reduces tuning by suggesting the rules best suited to protect a customer's specific environment. Unlike competitors, the Sourcefire IPS can use RNA information about a host to model traffic to the specific operating system being attacked. This provides customers more accurate prevention and an increased ability to stop evasions.

"The combination of the Sourcefire 3D System 4.8 and the high-performance Crossbeam platform simplifies the deployment of multiple best-of-breed security devices and provides customers with leading protection for their fastest networks," said Michele Perry, chief marketing officer at Sourcefire. "By becoming iBeam-certified, we are providing Crossbeam customers with the confidence they will receive the leading performance and reliability that Sourcefire customers have come to expect."

Crossbeam's iBeam ISV certification program rigorously tests best-of-breed security applications running on the X-Series in real-world environments by recreating the layered, core security architectures of large enterprise and service provider networks. This assures customers deploying the Sourcefire 3D System 4.8 on the Crossbeam chassis that this solution will provide the carrier-class performance and reliability they demand in their networks.
