Monty Python's Flying Backup

If all vendors' presentations were this funny, we'd invite them over more often

3:00 PM -- I usually avoid vendor video presentations like the plague, but as a dedicated Monty Python fan, I just couldn't resist pointing out this one from LiveVault.

This very funny little six-minute video, which contains almost no sales pitch at all, should evoke a few grins, if not outright guffaws, from anyone who has ever dealt with tape and/or offsite backup procedures.

Aside from the obvious influence of ex-Python star John Cleese, I particularly liked LiveVault's use of Michael Dorn (the former surly Klingon from "Star Trek: The Next Generation") as well as the sendup of Stanley Kubrick's classic "A Clockwork Orange."

I'm not endorsing LiveVault or its products, but seriously -- does every vendor video or advertisement have to look like the "instructional films" I used to watch in my 1970s social studies class? We know security is a serious subject. But sometimes, a little bit of humor can make twice as many points in half the time.

Thanks for a few chuckles, LiveVault. Here's hoping you're a trendsetter.
