IT Consultant Hacks Former Client
Angered over business deal, consultant wipes out former client's customer database

An IT consultant admitted last week that he hacked into the computer systems of a former Buffalo client and wiped out its entire customer database.
Lee James Garvin, 30, hacked into the computers of an embroidery company called Uniform NameMakers last year after his business relationship with the company had ended, Assistant U.S. Attorney Martin J. Littlefield said.
Authorities said Garvin had previously been hired to service the company’s computers.
"After the failure of the business deal, Mr. Garvin illegally obtained remote access to the Uniform NameMakers office computers and then deleted all of the electronic records regarding the company’s clients," Littlefield said.
FBI agents and the state attorney general’s office worked on the case with federal prosecutors.
Garvin is scheduled for sentencing April 11 before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. Garvin admitted to a felony charge of computer hacking.
