iSIGHT Partners Acquires Critical Intelligence
Creates the World’s Most Extensive Cyber Threat Intelligence Coverage for Critical Infrastructure and Industrial Control Systems
April 7, 2015
PRESS RELEASE
Dallas, TX – April 7, 2015 – iSIGHT Partners, Inc., the leading provider of cyber threat intelligence for global enterprises, today announced the acquisition of Idaho- based Critical Intelligence, the leader in cyber situational awareness and threat intelligence for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) owners and operators. Under the terms of the agreement, iSIGHT Partners has acquired 100% of Critical Intelligence, a 6 year old company and pioneer in identifying vulnerabilities and threats to critical infrastructure systems, including supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and other process control systems (PCS).
The move comes on the heels of iSIGHT Partners’ announcement of a $30m investment by Bessemer Ventures Partners and the company’s expansion of operations in the EMEA region. iSIGHT experienced significant growth in 2014 and finished the year with record revenues and strong client acquisition across numerous vertical and geographic segments, including energy, oil and gas and manufacturing. Growth continues to accelerate and iSIGHT Partners experienced over 100% year-over-year bookings growth in the first quarter of 2015.
“Demand for cyber threat intelligence continues to accelerate as more and more enterprises recognize that they cannot counter sophisticated cyber threats through technology alone,” said CEO John Watters at iSIGHT Partners. “With the increased threat concerns for organizations that own and manage critical infrastructure or operate important manufacturing systems, an intelligence-led approach to cyber security is critical. While critical infrastructure has always been a focus area for iSIGHT Partners, adding the Critical Intelligence team extends our cyber threat intelligence leadership position for this industry segment.”
According to Michael Assante, a longtime stalwart in the ICS security space and current director of ICS at the SANS Institute, “The combination of Critical Intelligence’s industrial control systems focused intelligence with iSIGHT’s leading cyber threat intelligence creates a powerful offering for critical infrastructure owners, operators and stakeholders.”
iSIGHT clients will now have the most complete, predictive and actionable intelligence integrated into their security controls to preserve the safety and reliability of the systems that run the world’s infrastructure, including:
• Power Generation and Distribution
• Oil and Natural Gas
• Water and Wastewater
• Chemical
• Building Automation
• Aviation
• Transportation
• Critical Manufacturing
• Food and Agriculture
• Maritime
• Nuclear Reactors, Materials and Waste
The Critical Intelligence client base, includes (among others) three of the largest electric utilities in the world and clients across the Fortune 500. “NERC’s ES-ISAC has enjoyed a close relationship with Critical Intelligence for the past six years,” said Chief Security Officer and Senior Director Tim Roxey at the ES-ISAC for the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. The reporting is first-class and always topical to our sectors and during the monthly ES-ISAC calls, the out brief from Critical Intelligence is always welcomed.”
“We were the first to track the ICS threat environment and our team members started what became the DHS ICS Cert,” said Bob Huber, president at Critical Intelligence. “We’ve analyzed more than 1,000 ICS-specific vulnerabilities, have kicked-off law enforcement investigations and provided continuous, adaptive intelligence to some of the largest owners and operators around the world. We are thrilled to be joining the iSIGHT Partners team to further our mission.”
