New business protects government and commercial computers from attack

MELBOURNE, Florida, January 12, 2009 - Harris Corporation (NYSE), an international communications and information technology company, has named Major General USAF (Ret.) Dale W. Meyerrose to the newly created position of vice president and general manager, Cyber and Information Assurance. Meyerrose was, most recently, the chief information officer and information sharing executive for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Meyerrose will be responsible for leading all aspects of strategy, business development, and program execution for Harris Corporation's newly formed Cyber and Information Assurance business. In addition, he will oversee the new Harris Center for Information Assurance at the Florida Institute of Technology and its associated research programs. The center at the Melbourne-based university is developing advanced solutions that address global information security threats.

"General Meyerrose has the experience and the strategic vision to pull together the broad and deep cybersecurity and IA capabilities within Harris, combined with new R&D capabilities at the Florida Tech center, and apply those resources to better serving current customers and significantly expanding addressable markets in this high-growth, mission-critical area. We are delighted Dale has chosen to join Harris Corporation."

General Meyerrose has more than three decades of government experience in secure communications and information technology. He served as Chief Information Officer in three major U.S. Air Force Commands and three unified Combatant Commands. He was the director of Command Control Systems, Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command, and director of Architectures and Integration, Headquarters U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. He also served as the chief information officer for both commands. General Meyerrose ensured that the commander of NORAD had the command and control systems to safeguard the air sovereignty of North America.

He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a B.S. degree in economics and earned an M.B.A. degree from the University of Utah. A high-resolution photograph of Meyerrose is available at
