PRESS RELEASE
Overland Park, KS — Apr. 19, 2011 — FireMon, LLC, the leader in security operations solutions, today announced that it has acquired Saperix Technologies. Included in the acquisition is exclusive license rights to risk analysis software developed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. The software accurately measures risk for enterprise networks by generating attack graphs identifying the most critical threats and the most effective countermeasures.
“Managing complex security environments remains one of the primary challenges enterprises face,” said Gary Fish, FireMon CEO and network security pioneer. “As the leader in the firewall operations market, we felt that adding risk analysis was the right next step for our company and the market. This technology acquisition will allow us to rapidly meet our vision of providing a real-time, comprehensive security operations solution to our customers.”
“With over 10 years of development, there isn't a more scalable and capable automated risk analysis product on the market today," said Stephen Boyer, CEO of Saperix. "The Saperix software is proven technology. But to grow that technology into a complete risk analysis solution, we needed to incorporate device-specific knowledge and operational capabilities. We found these capabilities in FireMon, which will save significant development effort and time. The integration of the Saperix and FireMon technologies forms the foundation of a powerful and compelling solution that we can bring to market quickly.”
The software produces an accurate and automated risk assessment, identifies the most effective mitigation tactics, predicts the most pressing threats posed by hypothetical zero-day attacks, and evaluates the effectiveness of current and planned security solutions. By creating a network model based on firewall policies and vulnerability data, it generates attack graphs to model threats and countermeasures.
“We are very excited about this acquisition,” says Jody Brazil, President and CTO of FireMon. “By combining the power of FireMon’s firewall operations capabilities with the patented risk analysis functionality from Saperix, we will provide an even more powerful, extensive enterprise security management solution.”
