PITTSBURGH, July 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cybersecurity experts from the CERT Insider Threat Center at the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute will present a free virtual event on current research aimed at establishing best practices to mitigate insider threats. Managing the Insider Threat: What Every Organization Should Know will take place Thursday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT.

The CERT Insider Threat Center conducts empirical research and analysis to develop and transition socio-technical solutions to combat insider cyber threats. The Center has been conducting research on this problem since 2001 in partnership with the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Secret Service, other federal agencies, the intelligence community, private industry, academia, and computer software and hardware vendors.

In this daylong event, experts from the SEI's CERT Division will share techniques for identifying insider threats, strategies for building a robust insider threat program, and insights on engineering realistic test data. They will also review emerging trends for 2013 and beyond.
