Juniper Networks plans to buy security software firm Cyphort, which provides mid- and large-size businesses with analytics for advanced threat defense. The acquisition is expected to close within the next month, Juniper reports. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cyphort's tool has an open architecture designed to integrate with existing security systems like security information and event management (SIEM) platforms. It uses machine learning and analytics to contain threats that make it past the first barrier of defense.

Juniper plans to integrate Cyphort into its Sky ATP platform to drive performance, support more file types, and increase threat detection capabilities to include on- and off-premise support, cloud email, analytics, and improved malware detection. It will also use Cyphort's "contributions and solutions" to improve its Software-Defined Secure Network (SDSN) tool. The Cyphort team will join Juniper.
