PRESS RELEASE

CUPERTINO, Calif. and LEEDS, England, June 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Trend Micro Incorporated (TSE: 4704), a global leader in Internet content security, announced today a definitive agreement to purchase online storage and data synchronization company humyo, based in Leeds, UK. Financial terms are not disclosed.

humyo has established itself as a leading online storage provider with its easy-to-use, yet technically powerful solutions. Its customers benefit from automatic data synchronization of files to a secure online storage center across all their computers and Internet-connected devices. humyo enables superior organization of data and removes the manual effort of moving files from one PC to another, which is not only time-consuming but subject to potential data loss. Using a Web browser, consumers and small businesses can protect, access and share important files, anytime and anywhere. Optionally, customers can download a client, which synchronizes files across all their computers and enables access to humyo through an extra hard drive on their PC -- even when offline.

Market Expansion

The humyo acquisition will allow Trend Micro to expand its security promise to consumers and small businesses, by affording them with secure backup, recovery and constant access. Analyst firm IDC has estimated that the Internet storage backup market will achieve an annual growth rate of over 25 percent from 2009 to 2011. Through this alignment with Trend Micro, a proven security leader, the current users of humyo products and services will have access to additional Internet content security choices and development of new features. Currently over 700 thousand users store more than 350 million files in humyo's secure datacenters. humyo currently offers local telephone and e-mail support in three languages.

"Online backup is a critical element of data security. humyo products and services combined with Trend Micro's industry-leading security offerings will give our customers the peace-of-mind that their computers and their valuable and ever-expanding digital information will be safe from malware and some other catastrophic incident," said Carol Carpenter, GM, consumer and small business products. "Already regarded as leading solutions in Europe, the humyo products and services will be immediately expanded by Trend Micro to other global markets for both consumers and small business."

Fit with Security

"humyo's superior data synchronization technology -- which allows multiple devices including PCs, Macs and smartphones to automatically backup to a common folder in the cloud so that consumer users can easily access their data from whatever device they have in hand -- is a clear differentiator that helps to ensure that users' files are always safe and secure as well as effortlessly organized," said Eva Chen, CEO, Trend Micro. "Their online storage--basically a cloud technology--fits into our strategy of providing security from and for the cloud."

"The growth in mobile devices, iPad and Internet-enabled televisions means people want access to what they want, when they want it, and on whatever device they have with them," said Dan Conlon, co-founder and managing director, humyo. "Online storage with synchronization makes that happen. Google and Microsoft are behind the curve on this and by teaming with Trend Micro, known for its innovation and its global market presence, we'll push the boundaries even further to make Trend Micro online storage the global choice."
