McAfee Announces Mobile Support For iOS

McAfee WaveSecure enables users to protect their privacy and mobile data

SANTA CLARA, CALIF., – August 15, 2011 – McAfee today announced it is extending platform support for consumers with its newly released McAfee' WaveSecure™ software iOS Edition. McAfee, which already supports the Apple iOS for business users with its Enterprise Mobility Manager software, is now supporting individual iPhone users via an easy-to-download app, addressing mobile users’ primary security concern—protection against data and device loss or theft. The software enables users to protect their privacy and mobile data, whether their iPhone is lost or stolen, ensuring irreplaceable and private information can be backed up and restored, safe from misuse.

McAfee, which has been an innovator in mobile security solutions for more than ten years, plans to continue to strengthen its consumer and enterprise mobile portfolio with broad support across operating systems. McAfee is demonstrating this commitment with WaveSecure software, iOS Edition. Users can wirelessly back up contacts, photos and videos as well as remotely track the location of their iPhone via the McAfee WaveSecure online portal. Users can wirelessly restore their contacts, even to an Android device.

“We are excited to extend our platform coverage to one of the most popular operating systems for mobile devices on the market,” said Todd Gebhart, co-president, McAfee. “Consumers use their mobile devices to hold some of the most important details of their life. McAfee WaveSecure software works seamlessly to secure, back up and wirelessly restore content on the device via the online portal. So even if the device is lost, stolen or damaged, or even if users accidentally delete their data, the data remains safe and easily accessible.”

McAfee WaveSecure software allows users to enjoy their mobile lifestyle without worry. The WaveSecure software iOS Edition provides remote location tracking and a Web console to help users find their missing device. Within the app itself, users also have the ability to wirelessly back up contacts, photos and videos, as well as restore or wipe contacts.

Availability and Pricing:

McAfee WaveSecure™ software iOS Edition is immediately available in the English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French (European and Canadian), German, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese (European and Brazilian), Swedish, Spanish (European and Mexican) and Russian. McAfee WaveSecure software iOS Edition is available for a one-time fee of $19.99 USD from the Apple App Store.
