PRESS RELEASE

HERNDON, VA, February 8, 2011 Exostar, whose cloud-based solutions enable secure, cost-effective business-to-business collaboration, today announced an identity management breakthrough that will enable Department of Defense (DoD) personnel to make even greater use of their Common Access Card (CAC). The company’s cloud-based Managed Access Gateway (MAG) solution now includes on-boarding and authentication workflow intelligence that lets approved DoD employees access third-party applications federated with MAG by logging in via their CAC card.

According to Gartner, “CACs offer operational benefits through the use of common processes and tools that potentially lead to lower administrative overheads, and to financial benefits that accrue from infrastructure consolidation and improved business processes that may yield concomitant operational efficiencies.”*

MAG is the centerpiece of Exostar’s Identity Hub services, which:

* Bring together Identity Providers and Relying Parties, who connect just once through the cloud to the Identity Hub. The Hub seamlessly allows trusted access across connected applications, using standard Identity Federation protocols including WS-Federation and SAML. Acceptance of trusted credentials, such as DoD CAC cards, into the Hub creates a flexible and secure means for customers to quickly engage with the DoD. * Support “inbound” access to enterprise applications by external users based on Identity Federation protocols. * Enable “outbound” access, where enterprise employees can enjoy a single sign-on experience by authenticating to third-party applications using their existing corporate credentials.

“The Identity Hub is a highly-scalable platform that becomes increasingly valuable as the number of Identity Providers and Relying Parties connected to it rises,” said Vijay Takanti, Exostar’s Vice President of Security and Collaboration Solutions. “Our latest upgrade to MAG to support DoD CAC cards creates an environment that makes it easier than ever for the DoD to actively participate in customer programs worldwide by capitalizing on their investment in CAC card identity technology.”
