Biscom Delivery Server 3.1 Offers Enhanced Data Breach Prevention

New features include updating admin roles, user expiration and quotes, and scripting support
Chelmsford, Mass — May 12, 2009 — Biscom, the most trusted name in electronic document delivery and secure file transfer solutions, today announced the release of Biscom Delivery Server version 3.1 " extending the company's leadership in data breach prevention and secure file transfer solutions. Biscom Delivery Server 3.1's enhanced compliance and reporting features are expertly designed to support the demanding responsibilities of compliance officers and security administrators in today's heavily regulated business environment. BDS's new compliance role enables auditors and compliance officers to accurately and effectively enforce internal file transfer policies in compliance with federal and state regulations without disrupting established workflows and processes. Likewise, enhanced reporting capabilities allow end-to-end system tracking including IP addresses and client types for individual users.

"What organizations need is an attachment management capability that will allow efficient and secure delivery of content that will keep costs low and improve email server performance," stated Michael Osterman, Principal Analyst, Osterman Research in a January 2009 report titled: Why You Need an Intelligent File Transfer Solution. "BDS allows an organization to significantly improve file transfer processes, reduce network bandwidth, improve email server performance, and most importantly, mitigate the risks inherent in other delivery models."

"With our previous large file transfer solution, it was awkward to set up accounts and manage permission, said David Cochran, CIO, John Wieland Homes. "With BDS we now simply add internal users to appropriate security groups and provide them with the Web address. The result is a solution that is easier to manage, easier to use, and easier to secure."

Additional features enhancements available with BDS version 3.1 include:

  • Updated administration roles " User administration has been broken down into three separate sub-roles: user administrator, system administrator, and super user, allowing for better distribution of administrative rights throughout an enterprise.
  • User expiration and quotas " Administrators have more control over users, and can define quota and expiration policies globally as well as for individual users.
  • Scripting support: Developers can now easily build interfaces, integrate existing applications, and automate processes through a Web services API. Popular scripting languages like Ruby and Python can now interact directly with the BDS server.

BDS 3.1 provides a host of other important new features such as increased ease of use for deliveries, enhanced password management options, support for multiple locales, real time system monitoring, file download notification, and many more user interface enhancements. Pricing for BDS v3.1 starts at $5000.
