ORANGE, Calif. -- 8e6 Technologies, the leading independent provider of Web filtering and insider threat management solutions for mid-size to large enterprises, today announced record annual growth for the fiscal 2007 year, driven by an industry-leading 38 percent increase in bookings from 2006. The company also substantially increased the size of its new customer wins, contributing to a growth rate that is more than double the industry average. 8e6 Technologies also extended their leadership position in the K-12 education space, partnering with the industry’s leading source of technology solutions to governments and educators, CDW-G. In addition, the company has expanded their presence into Europe while acquiring a number of sales representatives and channel partners from competing companies, including SurfControl, serving to broaden the scope of 8e6’s reach both at home and abroad for the coming year.

During 2007, 8e6 Technologies continued to achieve record-breaking sales growth numbers for their Internet filtering, reporting and real-time monitoring technology offerings, as evidenced by the following key financial and operational highlights:

  • Record year growth in 2007: Bookings at 8e6 grew 38 percent year-over-year from 2006, a significant accomplishment as industry analyst IDC estimates that the “Secure Content and Threat Management” market is growing at an 11.8 percent rate as noted in its December 2007 Worldwide IT Security Software, Hardware, and Services 2007–2011 Forecast: The Big Picture (Document # 210018).

  • Industry-leading seat-per-customer ratio and increased market share: 8e6 continued to make significant market share gains in 2007, adding 375 new customers and over 1 million seats. At the close of 2007, 8e6 reported nearly 1,800 customers, with a total seat count exceeding 6.8 million. In the education segment alone, the company protects over 10 million students each year. With an average number of just under 4,000 seats-per-customer, 8e6 finished the year once again with the largest seat-per-customer ratio of any Internet filtering vendor in the market.

  • Executive and sales team expansions: 8e6 continued to enhance its sales team with new staff. In mid-2007, security industry veteran Luis Curet came on board as vice president of sales to lead and expand the sales team. Luis formerly held executive positions at Rainbow Technologies and IBM. 8e6 was also able to take advantage of filtering industry changes in 2007, adding several experienced sales executives, including former SurfControl employees.

“2007 was another record-breaking year for 8e6, and we continue to set the bar in terms of company growth and customer retention within our sector,” said George Shih, CEO of 8e6. “As we look to the future, we will further expand our focus on product innovation, growing our channel program and escalating our global strategy. Our extensive partnership with CDW-G, continued demand in the education and enterprise sectors and rapid expansion into the U.K. has all positioned 8e6 to far exceed our 2008 projections.”
