PRESS RELEASE
BASKING RIDGE, N.J. " In its latest initiative to help large and mid-sized businesses protect their vital assets from cyber threats and other online attacks, Verizon Business is now offering its next-generation managed security services (MSS) platform, complete with new options for service to better meet the security demands on today's enterprise.
This newly enhanced platform is designed to safeguard corporate networks by proactively identifying vulnerabilities and prioritizing threats across the extended enterprise —resulting in better visibility, enhanced security and reduced risk. As a result, businesses can identify the threats that can do the most damage, and take action quickly. The platform is available immediately to customers throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific.
"Our award-winning MSS suite of services just got better," said Michael Marcellin, vice president of Verizon global managed solutions. "With this new engine powering our global security portfolio, we are delivering what customers have told us they require: highly agile, robust and cost-effective solutions that meet their unique business and security requirements. This latest technological innovation provides the ideal solution for businesses with widely dispersed offices and employees, using a combination of cloud and premises-based security offerings." Next-Generation Platform Takes Risk Management to Next Level Going beyond first-generation threat and vulnerability strategies to address underlying risk, Verizon's new platform enables the management of multiple security platforms, changing business requirements and increased security compliance requirements. It also enables enterprises that lack in-house security expertise and have limited resources to effectively secure their networks while obtaining a consistent quality of service at an affordable, predictable cost.
A unique proprietary system -- the State and Event Analysis Machine (SEAM) -- enables Verizon Business and its customers to identify the threats that are potentially most harmful by gathering information from the company's expansive global IP network as well as customer network- and premises-based security devices. The system uses this data to correlate risk from three key sources: threat information received from security devices in real time, vulnerability and technical asset information gathered from periodic scans, and asset criticality information received from the customer.
In addition, an enhanced online portal provides customers with critical information about their entire security infrastructure, including details that enable security executives to see their company's network security status at any given time. The portal's powerful features include central change management control, dynamic querying and reporting, and twelve-month trending and benchmarking information. With this data, companies can better track, plan and execute their security programs.
"Verizon Business' risk-based approach to network security gives enterprise customers a better understanding of the threats to their businesses so they can plan accordingly," said Amy DeCarlo, principal analyst - Managed IT Services at Current Analysis. "This pragmatic approach, coupled with the global availability of this service platform, makes this a compelling managed security offering for the enterprise."
Flexible Service Levels Address Requirements, Ownership Costs Verizon Business MSS customers can choose from one of three new cost-effective service tiers to address individual requirements, including providing effective security solutions across multiple networks in different parts of the world, each with country-specific requirements. The tiers are:
Basic Monitoring: Allows customers to outsource only the monitoring of security devices to Verizon Business while leveraging in-house staffing and retaining management control.
Premium Monitoring: Provides continuous monitoring of security devices with analytical support from Verizon Business. Security logs and alerts generated by security devices are analyzed, correlated and classified by the Verizon proprietary SEAM Engine and interpreted by security analysts located in one of the company's global security operations centers.
Premium Monitoring and Management: Provides the monitoring capabilities that are part of the Premium Monitoring service, and also proactive management of all devices. This includes installing security patches, managing security policies and restoring devices.
Verizon Business has flexible delivery methods with additional options available to premium service customers. The company offers a range of managed security services via the company's global IP backbone (in the cloud), at the customer's premises or via a hybrid approach.
Verizon Business provides maintenance and management for premises-based solutions. This includes support for numerous devices, including firewalls, network and host-based intrusion prevention and detection systems, unified threat management (UTM), application log monitoring and management, network access control (NAC), and content screening.
Verizon's in-the-cloud offerings include denial-of-service (DOS) detection and mitigation, as well as Managed Email and Web Content and network-based firewalls. Verizon Business plans to expand its in-the-cloud delivery for additional technologies.
