PRESS RELEASE

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 14, 2011 -- RSA CONFERENCE -- SonicWALL, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent network security and data protection solutions, today announced its SuperMassive(TM) E10000 Series of Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) consisting of the E10100, the E10200, the E10400 and the flagship E10800. The SuperMassive Series features a massively scalable multi-core architecture that utilizes up to 96 cores of processing power. It delivers more than 40 Gbps of firewall throughput and over 30 Gbps of application control and Intrusion Prevention Service (IPS) with industry-leading power, space and cooling (PSC) metrics(1). Based on these features, the SonicWALL SuperMassive E10000 Series offers unique price/performance and an unmatched combination of price/power/performance.

During RSA Conference 2011 in San Francisco, SonicWALL will demonstrate the SuperMassive E10000 Series product line every day between February 15-17 at 1:00PM and 5:00PM PST at Booth #423.

The SuperMassive E10000 Series utilizes SonicWALL's Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI(TM)) engine to scan every byte of every packet with full content inspection of the entire stream while providing high performance and low latency. The RFDPI engine also ensures full inspection of SSL-encrypted traffic as well as non-proxyable applications. It enables comprehensive protection regardless of transport or protocol. The SonicWALL SuperMassive E10000 Series addresses the security needs of enterprises, governments, universities, and service provider deployments and secures enterprise networks, data centers and server farms.

"We believe that today, less than 1% of corporate networks are secured using next-generation firewalls," says Greg Young, research vice president at Gartner. "Security vendors are making strides to eliminate the deep inspection quality and performance penalty that has been a barrier to next-generation firewall deployments. This paves the way for much broader acceptance. We expect that by 2014, 35% of all enterprises will have installed a next-generation firewall with tightly integrated intrusion prevention and application visibility and control capabilities."(2)

"SuperMassive makes next-generation security a reality for even the largest and highest performance networks delivering full application control and content security that eliminates threats entering the network," said John Gmuender, vice president of engineering and CTO at SonicWALL. "Our patented RFDPI technology is superior to outdated proxy designs that reassemble content using sockets bolted to anti-malware programs that are plagued with inefficiencies and overhead of socket memory thrashing which leads to low performance and high latency that is completely unacceptable in high performance networks."

Series Lineup

The SuperMassive E10100 is the first in the series of massively scalable NGFW products launched by SonicWALL. It features 12 processing cores with 12 additional cores in integrated high availability mode. The device is capable of delivering full deep packet inspection with application intelligence and intrusion prevention at 3 Gbps. The SonicWALL SuperMassive E10200 utilizes 24 processing cores and delivers 7.5 Gbps of application control and IPS. The SuperMassive E10400 is powered by 48 processing cores, offering 15 Gbps of application control and IPS. The SonicWALL SuperMassive E10800 is the flagship model of the SuperMassive Series and features 96 cores for maximum performance and throughput. The E10800 is the industry's only next-generation firewall capable of visualization and control of thousands of applications with simultaneous intrusion prevention while providing up to 30 Gbps of ultra-low latency throughput over any combination of 6x10-GbE SFP+ and 16x1-GbE SFP ports. The SuperMassive E10800 also delivers more than 10 Gbps of anti-malware protection against more than 4 million unique malware variants.

Each model of the SonicWALL SuperMassive E10000 Series is upgradeable, future-proofing security infrastructure investments as network bandwidth and security requirements increase.

For even larger bandwidth requirements, the SuperMassive Series enables clustering up to eight systems delivering an industry-leading combination of performance, security, and operational resilience. A SuperMassive Active-Active cluster deployment is suited for today's most demanding networking environments, providing up to 120 Gbps of simultaneous next-generation firewall, application control and intrusion prevention, and up to 60 Gbps of anti-malware protection from millions of malware variants.
