PRESS RELEASE

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Layer 7 Technologies, the leader in security and governance for SOA and Web services, today announced the release of its SecureSpan Gateway Amazon Machine Image (AMI). The SecureSpan Gateway AMI allows organizations to securely connect their mission-critical applications deployed on Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) service back to the enterprise via Web services, allowing enterprises to virtually extend their enterprise IT and application environments to the Amazon cloud. "Layer 7 simplifies the operation of hybrid enterprise/EC2 applications through dynamically deployable Web services gateways that can be provisioned inside both the enterprise and the Amazon cloud," said Paul Rochester, CEO, Layer 7 Technologies. "With Layer 7, organizations can now make EC2-run applications appear as extended parts of their own enterprise."

"Layer 7's SecureSpan Gateway AMI complements Amazon's recently announced Virtual Private Cloud offering," said Dan Kusnetzky, vice president of research operations, the 451 Group. "Layer 7 is removing another barrier to deploying mission-critical enterprise applications in the cloud. Amazon's VPC connects enterprise applications and EC2 at the network layer, while the Layer 7 AMI secures these transactions at the application data and API level."

The Layer 7 SecureSpan Gateway AMI is available for a free 30-day trial at Layer 7's Web site and Amazon's Web Services Developer Web site.
