August 15, 2011 – Lancope, Inc., a leader in flow-based security, network and application performance monitoring, is now offering the newest version of its monitoring platform, the StealthWatch' System 6.1. The latest version increases both the amount and types of flow data that can be processed by the system to deliver even higher levels of network visibility, performance and security.

StealthWatch 6.1 includes the StealthWatch FlowCollector 4000, which features massive scalability – up to 120,000 flows per second (fps) per collector – to keep up with the explosive rise in flow data among today’s enterprises. The FlowCollector 4000 increases the maximum monitoring capacity of the StealthWatch System to three million fps, and also includes extensible storage capabilities of up to four terabytes (TB), while still fitting into a 2U footprint.

Version 6.1 also integrates in-depth intelligence from the internal network with the behavioral analysis of flow data from perimeter devices. By combining internal and external network monitoring, the system delivers greater contextual awareness for improving network and security operations.

“Over the past few years, Cisco and other networking and security vendors have been steadily adding and enriching support for flow data across their product lines,” said Jim Frey, managing research director at EMA. “Flow record data has become an important, mainstream source for network management and security efforts, and organizations that have embraced and deployed it are realizing multiple benefits. With StealthWatch 6.1, Lancope has maintained its aggressive pace, expanding and extending its solution for maximizing the value of flow data.”

Lancope’s StealthWatch System harnesses the power of NetFlow and other flow data from existing network devices to provide unparalleled visibility into network traffic. StealthWatch fills in the gaps between other network and security technologies to uncover not only the sophisticated, zero-day attacks that bypass perimeter defenses, but also internal threats. The system eliminates network blind spots, cuts network and security management costs and dramatically expedites troubleshooting across physical and virtual environments.

“Lancope is dedicated to helping organizations leverage the power of flow data to seamlessly improve security posture and network performance,” said Mike Potts, president and CEO of Lancope. “With StealthWatch 6.1, we have significantly expanded these efforts by doubling our flow monitoring rate and storage capacity, while also extending sophisticated, behavioral analytics to the perimeter for unprecedented network visibility.”
