PRESS RELEASE

BALTIMORE --(Business Wire)-- Apr 21, 2009 Aladdin Knowledge Systems, a global leader in information security now affiliated under common management with SafeNet, Inc., today announced plans to release Aladdin eToken Virtual and Aladdin MobilePASS, the latest innovations in software-based authentication, enabling secure access and identity verification without the need for a hardware"based authenticator.

Aladdin's software authentication solutions, part of the industry's most versatile line of authenticators, will be available in both encrypted virtual smartcard platforms for PCs and portable flash drives, and one-time-password (OTP) platforms for PCs, flash and mobile devices. Like Aladdin's broad portfolio of hardware-based OTP and smartcard authentication solutions, Aladdin's software authentication solutions are easily managed using Aladdin's Token Management System (TMS), allowing organizations to complement hardware authentication deployments and tailor solutions to various use cases and risk levels.

By eliminating the need for hardware, organizations can implement a strong authentication solution that is simple to deploy and manage, reduces management costs, increases ease-of-use and convenience for end-users, and improves productivity. Aladdin's software authentication solutions are ideal for business partners, customers, visitors and temporary workers.

eToken Virtual:

eToken Virtual is software-based two-factor authentication security solution which provides full PKI functionality such as secure remote access, network access, encryption and digital signing completely in software. eToken Virtual:

  • Delivers the strength of certificate-based authentication for PC and flash

    • Encrypts smartcards in the computer itself so there is no risk of lost or damaged authenticators

    • Reduces the cost of deployment and distribution of authenticators

    • Improves employee productivity

      MobilePASS:

MobilePASS, Aladdin's family of One-Time-Password (OTP) software authentication solutions, combines the security of proven two-factor strong authentication with the convenience of one-time passwords generated right on your personal mobile device or PC. MobilePASS:

    • Supports BlackBerry, Windows mobile, Java ME-enabled devices, and Smartphone using a standard login and supports out of band SMS delivery

    • Can also be installed on a laptop, desktop PC or saved on a flash drive for portability between machines

    • Enables new business opportunities while protecting identities and data

"Today's enterprises require a choice, and are looking for versatile solutions that meet their needs for strong security, usability, cost control and ease of integration. With the launch of our software authentication solutions, Aladdin continues to demonstrate its dedication to innovation and to the needs of our customers," said Shlomi Yanai, vice president of the Authentication Business Unit at Aladdin Knowledge Systems. "For organizations needing a software-based solution that is cost-effective and simple to deploy, Aladdin software authentication reduces administrative time and cost, reduces the workload of IT staff and streamlines the management of a strong authentication solution."

Both eToken Virtual and MobilePASS are easily managed and maintained using the Aladdin TMS. TMS offers centralized control of all authentication devices and seamlessly integrates into Microsoft Active Directory and other repositories such as SQL or LDAP. It provides full lifecycle management of authentication solutions including deployment, authenticator provisioning and ongoing maintenance, as well as support for users who lose their authenticators.

BIO-key, a leader in biometric security technology and the premier provider of mobile data solutions for law enforcement, already uses Aladdin's complementary hardware OTP devices to enable mobile police officers to access FBI and other law enforcement databases directly from a BlackBerry smartphone or Windows Mobile PDA with BIO-key's PocketCop' solution. The FBI requires that all handheld devices accessing Federal data, including stolen vehicle reports and outstanding arrest warrants, utilize an advanced authentication method, such as using an electronic token device as a second factor in addition to the standard user password. In an office setting, eToken Virtual and MobilePASS will enable officers and other staff to quickly and easily authenticate to the computer or network to access protected information.

According to Ben Hammel, BIO-key's Director of Identity Management, "We've selected Aladdin because our combined and integrated solution is an effective two-factor authentication method that fully addresses FBI security requirements. Using Aladdin's OTP authentication with BIO-key's PocketCop, officers at a traffic stop or other incident are able to access critical information immediately so they're better prepared to serve their communities and protect their own safety. Implementing MobilePASS or eToken Virtual in the office will greatly enhance the versatility and usability of law enforcement agencies' security infrastructure. We look forward to bringing Aladdin's complete software authentication solution to our customers."
