Thycotic Offers Free Privileged Account Security Software
Secret Server Free tool available now.
Privileged account management vendor Thycotic today rolled out a free software package that it says it hopes will be downloaded by 20,000 organizations by the end of this year. The new Secret Server Free tool is a basic version of its technology that helps find and secure privileged accounts.
Privileged user accounts are often stolen and abused in cyberattacks. They are often the gateways to the organization’s IT infrastructure and can severely affect critical business data if compromised. Thycotic’s Secret Server Free also monitors account activity to watch for unauthorized or suspicious activity.
“At Thycotic, we are on a global mission to help IT teams worldwide protect their organizations from hackers and have already done so for more than 3,500 organizations,” said James Legg, CEO of Thycotic.
Secret Server Free supports up to 100 users and can support up to 1,000 privileged account passwords. It's integrated with Microsoft's Active Directory, and supports Remote Desktop Protocol/PuTTY, as well as mobile apps. Passwords are stored via strong encryption.
