PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BeyondTrust®, the security industry’s only provider of context-aware solutions for privilege and vulnerability management, today announced a new release of Retina CS for Mobile. The updated solution makes it even easier for IT security professionals to proactively identify the latest mobile device vulnerabilities threatening their corporate networks.

“Four Ways to Close the Gap Between Enterprise Mobility and Vulnerability Management”

Retina CS for Mobile is included as a standard module with the Retina CS Enterprise Vulnerability Management solution. The module can scan Blackberry and ActiveSync-managed devices accessing the network, as well as conduct local assessments of Android devices via a free app available through the Google Play Store. With the app’s local scan and report capabilities, employees can identify security weaknesses on their Android devices at any time, from anywhere.

By feeding mobile device vulnerability data into a centralized analytics and reporting console, the updated module enables IT security administrators to identify, profile and assess smart phones and tablets alongside other assets in their environment, such as laptops, servers, web applications, databases and virtual machines. This gives administrators full, zero-gap visibility into risk throughout a heterogeneous IT infrastructure. The new release also continuously updates the Retina CS Android app by way of BeyondTrust’s BeyondSaaS cloud-based vulnerability assessment solution. This ensures mobile devices are always assessed for the latest exposures — even when they aren’t connected to the network.

“Whether on the network, in the cloud, or on mobile devices, our innovations enable customers to significantly decrease the number of active vulnerabilities threatening their organizations,” said Brad Hibbert, vice president, product strategy and operations, BeyondTrust. “With mobile devices especially, we realize this is an uphill battle given the ubiquitous nature of BYOD. However, we’re confident that by empowering individual users and security staff to detect smart phone and tablet-based IT risks, we’ll assist in creating a more secure mobile environment in the workplace.”

According to Gartner’s April 30, 2014 report titled, “Four Ways to Close the Gap Between Enterprise Mobility and Vulnerability Management,” Gartner analysts share that, “By 2017, 40% of enterprises will deploy or extend their vulnerability assessment solutions to cover smartphones and tablets, up from 5% today. By integrating mobile device management (MDM) technology with vulnerability management, the security organization regains visibility and oversight back over the rapidly growing population of mobile-based assets. This allows mobile devices to be included in risk metrics and reporting, as well as enabling the assessment and management of mobile device vulnerabilities by the IT security organization.”

With Retina CS for Mobile, security professionals are able to:

  • Rely on automatic vulnerability audit updates from BeyondSaaS

  • Reduce risk across BlackBerry, Android and ActiveSync-managed mobile devices

  • Audit mobile device hardware, applications and configurations

  • Access reports locally via the mobile app and alongside enterprise vulnerability data in Retina’s BeyondInsight console

  • Ease compliance via in-depth mobile vulnerability management audit trails

  • Reveal vulnerability profiles of mobile devices accessing your network

  • Streamline remediation through severity-based mobile threat prioritization

The Retina CS for Mobile Android app is free and available now via the Google Play Store. The full version of the Retina CS for Mobile module, which adds agentless assessment capabilities to Blackberry and ActiveSync-managed devices, plus enterprise analytics and reporting, is included with the Retina CS Enterprise Vulnerability Management solution.
