PRESS RELEASE

New York, NY - January 21, 2021 - TAG Cyber, the only cybersecurity analyst firm dedicated to eliminating the one-size-fits-all, pay-to-play analysis and consulting, today announced that Kean University Center for Cybersecurity is one of the first collaborators for its Cyber Corps program, a cybersecurity apprenticeship grant program available to 4-year colleges and universities. The partnership brings the Cyber Corps program to an initial five undergraduate students, with 15 interns across other universities.

TAG Cyber and the Kean University Center for Cybersecurity share a joint commitment to cybersecurity and fostering the necessary skills to develop proper awareness, technical knowledge, preparedness and resiliency to respond to cybersecurity-related issues. This innovative program contributes to the growing cybersecurity skills that are required today, providing learning and growth opportunities for Kean University students interested in obtaining practical cybersecurity knowledge and experience.

“The students from Kean are very well prepared and have exceeded our expectations,” said Shawn Hopkins, Executive Vice President of Cyber Security Services for TAG Cyber.“ The interns completed their training in record time and are working in the full production environment much sooner than anticipated. We are very pleased with how the collaborative effort is working and hope to expand this model across the U.S.”

The program includes a combination of learning activities and a paid monthly stipend for actual cybersecurity work-related tasks. The student’s research is used for providing current, real-world threat analysis and vulnerability assessments to the small business community.

“Given the growing need to fill open cybersecurity jobs, we are enthusiastic about the opportunity to provide real-world technical training and experience to our students through this TAG Cyber Grant Program,” says Stanley Mierzwa, from the Kean Center for Cybersecurity. “We are grateful to Shawn Hopkins and Matt Amoroso of the TAG Cyber leadership, for their dedication and initiation of this effort.”

Cyber Corps also offers an online portal for the SMB community to obtain monthly research on any cloud services and web assets, and users receive a fully customized Security Information Portal with an overview of relevant cybersecurity threat assessments for their environment. The information within the portal is powered by the participating university interns. For more information on TAG’s Cyber Corps program, please visit: https://www.tag-cyber.com/portal/cyber-corps
