PRESS RELEASE
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Network security is top of mind for businesses as they work to balance the security of their private networks while still making it possible for employees who travel or rely on remote access to retrieve critical information on company servers. Verizon Wireless today announced it is providing an added convenience to remote access with the introduction of Verizon Software Token 1.0 for RSA SecurID(R) on Verizon Wireless Media Center- and Get It Now(R)-capable phones. Once downloaded to a compatible handset, Verizon Wireless Software Token 1.0 for RSA SecurID makes private network authentication possible without the need for hardware tokens such as key fobs.
"Verizon Software Token 1.0 for RSA SecurID transforms Verizon Wireless mobile phones into an essential part of a company's security management," said Mark Bartolomeo, vice president enterprise data marketing. "The addition of this application to any Verizon Wireless phone is an example of how technologies are converging and reshaping how and where people work."
The RSA SecurID, a form of two-factor authentication, typically requires a personal identification number (PIN) and an authenticator to identify an employee before granting access to a secured resource.Once verified, employees can remotely access Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), corporate e-mail, intranets, Microsoft(R) Windows(R) desktops, Web servers and other network resources.
Verizon Software Token 1.0 for RSA SecurID provides IT personnel with easy, over-the-air device management. If a mobile phone with the application is lost or stolen, an organization's IT team can immediately update the RSA Authentication Manager Server so authentication attempts from that device will fail. IT personnel can also give employees network authentication privileges in just minutes - even from halfway around the world. This eliminates the need to overnight hardware tokens to employees who may be traveling.
Pricing
Verizon Software Token 1.0 for RSA SecurID is a subscription-based service available on Media Center- and Get It Now(R)-capable mobile phones for a $1.99 monthly fee per line. Enterprise network set up is required.
