OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois and ZURICH, Switzerland " April 27, 2009 - VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI) (www.vasco.com), ), a leading software security company specializing in authentication products, and OpenTrust, European leader in trust infrastructures for secure electronic transactions, announce that they will jointly offer end-to-end PKI-based solutions. Under the terms of the agreement OpenTrust will integrate VASCO's VACMAN' and DIGIPASS' CertiID into OpenTrust SCM.

OpenTrust SCM is a web-based solution for the management of security devices from the core of the security system through to the end-user. When PKI-technology is used for strong authentication, encryption or document signing, the digital identity of the user needs to be stored on a smart card or USB-device. OpenTrust SCM provides enterprises with a single platform to manage the deployment of smart cards or USB-tokens to a large number of users. The solution provides the capability of storing and updating credentials from multiple applications on a single security device whether this is used for physical/logical access control, single sign-on to corporate networks or business applications and digital identity management. OpenTrust SCM uses open industry standards and can be used with different security and authentication technologies (OTP, PKI, SSO). The solution ensures that secrets stored on smart cards or USB-authenticators are securely transported for authentication or transaction signing.

In a first phase OpenTrust will integrate DIGIPASS CertiID for PKI-environments. DIGIPASS CertiID is used on the client-side and end-users will be equipped with DIGIPASS' Key1 or DIGIPASS' 860. Later this year VASCO VACMAN and SSO technology will be integrated with OpenTrust SCM for One-Time Password authentication.

DIGIPASS CertiID is a client based PKI solution for strong authentication, digital signature and data protection. It is a software suite which allows banks, enterprises and governments to use PKI-based technology to sign transactions or confidential documents. It guarantees document confidentiality thanks to signing and encryption functionality. It also offers non-repudiation of transactions. The solution uses a smart card with a DIGIPASS 860 or DIGIPASS Key1 USB key on which certificates and keys are stored.

" DIGIPASS CertiID has been developed to make the complexity of PKI-technology straightforward and easy to use. OpenTrust shares our philosophy to make PKI accessible for use by vast audiences. Both our products have been developed with user-friendliness in mind. We are happy with a partner who shares our vision and as a result the integration of OpenTrust SCM and VASCO VACMAN technology on the server side and VASCO CertiID, DIGIPASS Key1 and DIGIPASS 860 on the client-side was very easy.", says Jan Valcke, President and COO at VASCO Data Security.

" We are happy to share strengths with VASCO. We share the vision to develop user friendly security solutions that can be deployed very quickly. Furthermore VASCO has a global recognition as leader in authentication. We are convinced that this leadership will help us to jointly offer end-to-end PKI-based solutions.", says Olivier Guilbert OpenTrust CEO.

About OpenTrust OpenTrust, founded in 2001, designs and develops solutions for the implementation of secure IT infrastructures. Our customers include some of the most demanding European Fortune 500 and government bodies often involved in very sensitive areas (national security, nuclear energy, financial transactions, airlines etc. ) as well as enterprises whose aim is simply to better protect their assets. We believe that security will go through a major transformation in the coming years. The present paradigm is to create a safe and reliable IT environment with a "fortress" protecting corporate assets and over time posting additional guards at all entry points. This paradigm is changing. Security will no longer be based on the level of protection implemented but on the level of trust that can be granted to devices, users, networks and applications.
