Trustwave Acquires Intellitactics
SIEM solution to be integrated into Trustwave's data protection architecture
March 10, 2010
PRESS RELEASE
CHICAGO (March 3, 2010) " Trustwave, a leading provider of information security and compliance solutions, has acquired Intellitactics, an industry-leading and award-winning provider of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) technology. The terms of the deal are confidential.
Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) is the automated collection, analysis, alerting, reporting, and secure storage of all events logged in networks, systems, applications and databases, and is a critical component of robust security architectures, as well as a requirement of many information security regulations and industry standards. SIEM technology transforms logs from hundreds of sources into security events that are aggregated and correlated to improve understanding of security control effectiveness, attacks by cyber criminals or malicious insiders, and unintentional actions that could compromise an organization's security. SIEM technology automates event management and enables proactive threat management and reporting, providing security managers with the information needed to maintain a secure and compliant environment.
Trustwave's new customer-managed SIEM solutions, using patented technology and available for the enterprise, service provider, government and SMB/SME organizations, complement the company's mission to develop technologies that identify and encrypt sensitive data in every form, in every environment. Trustwave will continue to deliver these robust products to the marketplace, while also integrating the Intellitactics' SIEM technology into its current data protection architecture.
The demand for thorough analysis and review of all security related events has increased due to the proliferation of data privacy regulations throughout the world:
Federal Regulations - The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act stiffens penalties for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) violations and widens its scope to include any company in the U.S. that stores or transmits personal information.
State Regulations - While many states require public notification of data breaches, recent legislation in Nevada and Massachusetts mandates reviewing of events related to personal information access.
International Regulations - The Data Protection Directive in Europe and the Personal Information Protection Act in Japan also regulate and protect personal data.
Trustwave's new SIEM technology will serve as a critical component in a comprehensive solution to help customers large and small comply with these regulations and others in the most cost-effective manner available.
"Trustwave's acquisition of Intellitactics is a welcomed strategic initiative that will strengthen two very important relationships to Element Payment Services," says Sean Kramer, president and CEO at Element Payment Services, a PCI-compliant payment processing provider. "Intellitactics furthers Trustwave's effort to secure sensitive data through a powerful event and log management tool, which is exactly what customers, like Element, expect from our security partner."
"The future of data protection in every environment is an integrated solution that includes data loss prevention to locate all sensitive data, encryption to protect it, and SIEM to provide comprehensive reporting. Trustwave is proud to be an innovator in this space," says Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO of Trustwave.
"We've built a solution that will integrate well into Trustwave's current architecture and provide Trustwave's customers with new options for one of the fastest growing security market segments," says Randall K. Davis, CEO and president at Intellitactics.
