ServerSpace Launches UK’s First Enterprise-Level DDoS Protection For SMBs
New solution incorporates two levels of behavior analysis

PRESS RELEASE
London, 30 January 2013 – Up to two-thirds (66%) of security breaches affected businesses with between 11 and 100 employees[1] last year, with many SMBs being unable to afford adequate protection. Coupled with the increase in catastrophic DDoS attacks ServerSpace has teamed up with Black Lotus to offer UK SMBs enterprise-level DDoS protection at an affordable monthly cost.
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks can be the most harmful kind of cyber-attack to SMBs, but new enterprise-level protection is now available to businesses that cannot afford to pay the same rates as large multi-national corporations.
DDoS attacks are designed to bombard websites with automated visits, and when traffic reaches a critical point it collapses. A company's website is the face of their business, so an attack of this nature can be catastrophic to the company's reputation.
ServerSpace's managing director, Tim Pat Dufficy, comments: "Smaller businesses have been crying out for affordable protection against DDoS attacks and it remains one of the most critical problems that business owners face. How can businesses be expected to grow when they can face a number of cyber-attacks each day? Up until now they have been fighting a fire that won't go out."
The new solution incorporates two levels of behaviour analysis. The first is a 'Human Behaviour Analysis' (HBA), which determines whether or not the request originated from a human. The second is a 'Network Behaviour Analysis' (NBA), which detects abnormal traffic and decides if it was a result of a DDoS attack.
Jeffrey Lyon, CEO of Black Lotus, said: "Small and medium-sized businesses in the UK are in dire need of a cost-effective DDoS protection system. Replicating such a system is not an option for these businesses, as it would cost in the region of £500,000. If one considers the repercussions of a DDoS attack and the long-term implications it could have on a business, £700-£1,000 a month for a reliable protection service seems a very sensible price to pay.
