PRESS RELEASE
WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Novell (Nasdaq: NOVL) today announced the general availability of Novell Identity Manager 4 Advanced Edition. Part of Novell's WorkloadIQ(TM) portfolio, Novell Identity Manager 4 is the industry's first solution to ensure consistent identity, security and compliance policies for an organization's entire IT ecosystem. As a result, customers and partners can simplify provisioning of users and better protect corporate data while reducing cost and complexity.
Novell Identity Manager 4 Advanced Edition is a critical part of Novell's broader identity and security portfolio which delivers a consistent framework for managing identities across physical, virtual and cloud environments. Announced earlier this year, Identity Manager 4 builds on feedback from more than 6,000 customers to redefine enterprise-grade user provisioning and identity management. Leapfrogging the competition, it integrates sophisticated roles management, advanced workflow and intelligent reporting to support the identity and compliance needs of the most advanced enterprise or managed service provider.
Novell Identity Manager 4 Advanced Edition has been widely applauded in beta testing by more than 50 customers and partners, including:
-- "Most identity management initiatives are not seeking to solve a single identity management problem, but rather looking to comprehensively manage the identities of employees, partners and clients," said Phil Cook, identity architect, Identropy, a Novell partner. "An effective identity management roadmap takes into consideration your business objectives, technical objectives, as well as a healthy understanding of how various identity management components interact. Novell Identity Manager 4 delivers a set of policy-driven components that automate security and resource management tasks helping ensure that your business policies are enforced consistently, while providing a strong framework for exception handling along with robust reporting." -- "Having a mature identity management solution in place puts us in a very good position. Novell Identity Manager 4 will play a critical role in helping us ensure compliance with emerging security policies," said Sebastiaan Veldhuisen, IDM Consultant, Leiden University. "Identity Manager 4 provides a foundation for enterprises to get a full picture of their security and compliance status, which is difficult to do in a mixed IT environment like ours." -- "Our company has experienced strong growth this year, and we needed an agile, scalable identity platform to meet our needs," said Joseph Kinney, Systems Engineer III, Rackspace. "As we adapt and grow, Novell Identity Manager has the flexibility we require, from building roles on the fly to securing cloud applications." -- "Novell Identity Manager is connected with our HR system, so as soon as a new colleague record is created by HR, their access rights to numerous applications are automatically provisioned," said Mark Edson, infrastructure manager, Huntington National Bank. "For our Salesforce deployment, we leveraged the workflow engine in Novell Identity Manager to grant access privileges to roughly 8,000 accounts in Salesforce.com. This could have taken months to get those accounts created and set up. Using Novell Identity Manager, we provisioned all the accounts in one night. Now, it's all automated, significantly reducing the amount of administrative overhead associated with granting account access and internal rights and privileges."
Novell Identity Manager 4 is central to Novell's WorkloadIQ vision. A key part of this vision is to deliver a spectrum of cloud-ready Identity and Security solutions to meet today's enterprise need for security in physical, virtual and cloud environments. With the growth in cloud solutions, security questions such as granting appropriate access and ensuring regulatory compliance have become increasingly important. Novell Identity Manager 4 helps customers provide seamless provisioning to cloud applications.
"We are delighted with the feedback that we have received from a diverse range of customers and partners on how Novell Identity Manager 4 will help them build a successful identity and security framework," said Jim Ebzery, senior vice president and general manager, Security, Management and Operating Platforms, Novell. "Identity Manager 4 will help customers eliminate silos, reduce risk and lay the foundation for cloud-based platform adoption."
