ManageEngine Debuts Enhancements To Password Manager Pro
New iPhone app lets IT security pros manage privileged passwords while on the go
February 27, 2013
PRESS RELEASE
SAN FRANCISCO & PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ManageEngine, the real-time IT management company, today announced key enhancements to Password Manager Pro, the industry-leading enterprise privileged password management solution, at RSA Conference 2013 being held in San Francisco, February 25-March 1, 2013. Password Manager Pro's new iPhone app lets IT security pros manage privileged passwords while on the go, while integrations with third-party apps streamline password management activities. ManageEngine will demonstrate Password Manager Pro along with the rest of its IT security solutions portfolio in booth 2641 at the event.
The proliferation of IT assets is driving an exponential increase in the number of privileged passwords handled by enterprise IT and network divisions. Datacenters, in particular, present a daunting challenge for IT operations given their complex mix of databases, network devices, applications, and physical and virtual systems. With cyber-crimes looming large, datacenter operations are required to not only be robust and efficient but also highly secure to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
"IT and network administrators who physically move into datacenters require secure access to privileged passwords to login to resources," said Rajesh Ganesan, director of product management at ManageEngine. "The tight access restrictions of the datacenter mean administrators need a secure way to retrieve passwords from mobile devices, at times without Internet connectivity. And they need a way to review and approve password access requests while on the go. The Password Manager Pro iPhone app meets both challenges head on."
Mobilizing Privileged Password Management
The Password Manager Pro iPhone app literally puts privileged password management in administrators' hands -- anytime, anywhere. It optimizes ease-of-use without compromising data security. The iPhone app is as secure as the Password Manager Pro installation and uses the same AES-256 encryption. Further, the iPhone app is guarded by an additional passphrase entered by the user. Even if the mobile device is stolen, passwords cannot be deciphered in plain text.
The Password Manager Pro iPhone app also works offline, so users can access privileged passwords without an Internet connection. To ensure users have the latest data for offline access, the iPhone app has a provision to synchronize passwords whenever the administrators go online.
The mobile app makes use of Password Manager Pro's REST API that also facilitates integration with any third-party application, helping IT organizations establish a more centralized and integrated privileged password management practice. For example, Password Manager Pro can be integrated with BMC Remedy Service Desk and other help desk and ticketing systems. Similarly, the real-time traps/syslog messages generated by Password Manager Pro can be sent to third-party SIEM tools, so the Password Manager Pro data can be analyzed and correlated with other network events to create a more secure infrastructure with an in-depth and holistic view of overall network activity.
Pricing and Availability
Password Manager Pro 6.9 (beta) is available immediately.
