PRESS RELEASE
Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced Check Point VPN-1 R65 security gateway and SmartConsole management system have received after a long and stringent testing process Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 (EAL4) certification from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). Government agencies requiring EAL4 certification can now benefit from the unprecedented protection VPN-1 R65 provides with its integrated firewall, intrusion prevention (IPS), virtual private network (VPN) and remote access capabilities. EAL4 certification is the highest standard level existing commercial product lines can receive, and indicates a product is engineered with a high degree of quality. The International Standard Organization initially created Common Criteria and EAL levels to better secure government networks, establishing global standards that attest to the reliability of a security solution " the higher the level, the more reliable the product. EAL4 certification provides assurance to government agencies, and any organization protecting mission critical assets, that Check Point security solutions meet or exceed strict criteria. Many government agencies require network security solutions to have at the minimum EAL4 certification. "Just as equal to the security features of a solution is the dependability of the system itself," said Dr. Dorit Dor, vice president of products at Check Point. "The new EAL4 certification not only allows additional government entities to benefit from Check Point's single management console and integrated security gateway, but also reinforces the reliability of Check Point network security solutions. Customers can be confident Check Point security gateways will excel under the most demanding, strictest environments." All Check Point products running VPN-1 NGX R65 HFA-30 are EAL4 certified. This includes Check Point's UTM-1 and Power-1 appliance lines as well as former Nokia IP appliances and Check Point Integrated Appliance Solutions. As a part of a unified architecture, Check Point security gateways can be managed centrally from a single console. Consequently, Check Point's management solution SmartConsole HFA-01 also achieved EAL4 certification. "It's imperative government agency systems remain secure," said Bruce Tucker, president and co-founder at Patriot Technologies. "EAL4 certification of Check Point's security gateway attests to the quality and capability of the solutions in preserving critical applications and networks." EAL4 certification is the latest of many industry standards Check Point products consistently meet, including FIPS, Common Criteria and NSS certifications. "Government agencies face unique security concerns and our ability to consistently meet their stringent requirements shows the strength of Check Point's solutions," concluded Dor.
