New Jersey Man Sentenced to 7+ Years for Cyber Breaking & Entering

A New Jersey resident has been sentenced to 94 months in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of obtaining information from computers and one count of aggravated identity theft.

According to his guilty plea, beginning early in 2017 Ankur Agarwal broke into the networks of two companies, installing keyloggers and stealing data including user credentials and company intellectual property regarding emerging technology development. He also broke into individual computers and stole credentials that allowed him to print an employee badge allowing physical access to one of the companies.

In addition to the prison sentence Agarwal was sentenced to three years of supervised release and $25,000 fine.
