Manchester United Suffers Cyberattack
Premier League soccer club says the attack didn't affect its website and app, and it doesn't appears to have exposed any fan or customer data either.
Famed European Premiere Leage soccer club Manchester United recently disclosed it was hit by a cyberattack by "sophisticated" cybercriminals on its internal network.
"Club media channels, including our website and app, are unaffected and we are not currently aware of any breach of personal data associated with our fans and customers," the club posted on its website.
While Manchester United did not specify whether this was a general malware infection or a ransomware attack, the club said its security systems detected the attack and "shut down affected systems to contain the damage and protect data."
Manchester United said it had in place the security protocols and processes for this type of threat and is currently investigating the attack: "The club has taken swift action to contain the attack and is currently working with expert advisers to investigate the incident and minimise the ongoing IT disruption."
