AirTight and PowerDsine announced a partnership that will allow AirTight to provide its customers with the industry leading WIPS solution
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- AirTight NetworksT, the leading provider of wireless intrusion prevention systems (WIPS), and PowerDsine Ltd. (NASDAQ: PDSN), a pioneer in Power over Ethernet (PoE) solutions, today announced a partnership that will allow AirTight to provide its customers with the industry leading WIPS solution - for under $20 per user including installation.
PowerDsine is supplying AirTight with several of its Power over Ethernet Midspan solutions which AirTight has integrated and certified with its WIPS systems. These certified products, which AirTight will resell and support, will enable users to install SpectraGuardR WIPS solutions utilizing existing wiring and existing LAN switches - adding WIPS sensors without running new cables or needing to install new power lines.
In addition, AirTight is introducing a specialized cable splitter, designed in close collaboration with PowerDsine's PoE engineers - that eliminates the need to pull new cables, resulting in reduced cost of installation. In major metropolitan locations (with higher labor costs) or in older buildings, this can save the customer over $1000 in installation costs per sensor - potentially cutting the cost of the total solution by over 50%.
"WIPS is another example of an emerging market which can reap the benefits of Power over Ethernet," said Igal Rotem. CEO of PowerDsine. "As an established supplier to the wireless networking industry, PowerDsine is pleased that AirTight has adopted such a cost-savings yet intelligent solution for installing WIPS devices. We are delighted to be partnering with AirTight Networks, a leader in the WIPS market."
