PRESS RELEASE
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- March 30, 2009 -- WhiteHat Security, the leading provider of website risk management solutions, today launched a website security certification program which provides WhiteHat Sentinel customers with a distinctive and formal trademark for their website to show it has been assessed by WhiteHat for the latest vulnerabilities. The "website security by WhiteHat Security" mark allows customers to assure site visitors that the WhiteHat Sentinel Service has been deployed to safeguard confidential data from security breaches and hacker attacks.
The WhiteHat Security certification program also enables customers to communicate their adherence to Payment Card Industry (PCI)-Data Security Standard security guidelines. WhiteHat Sentinel exceeds PCI 6.6 requirements for website security by offering customers unlimited scanning during its annual subscription period ensuring up-to-date visibility into a website's security posture. In addition, Sentinel maps to PCI vulnerability severity levels for simplified customer reporting.
"Corporations across vertical markets are constantly challenged to maintain the security of their websites to ensure all sensitive data remains uncompromised," said Bill Pennington, SVP of Services, WhiteHat Security. "We think there is great value to our customers to offer a program which allows them to certify that their sites have been extensively reviewed for security issues by WhiteHat Sentinel. Now, customers can publicly acknowledge that website security and their adherence to PCI 6.6 Compliance directives are top priorities."
The industry-leading WhiteHat Sentinel product family is composed of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) website security solutions that deliver the flexibility, simplicity and manageability that organizations need to take control of website security and prevent Web attacks. WhiteHat Sentinel was built from the ground up to assess the largest and most complex websites in the world on an ongoing basis, and today executes rigorous and ongoing security testing on thousands of the world's leading websites, including many Fortune 500 companies.
The WhiteHat Sentinel service allows organizations to conduct the most complete vulnerability assessments - as often as they'd like, or every time a website is changed - ensuring that all existing and new vulnerabilities are identified and assessed. WhiteHat's patented methodology exceeds the strictest industry standards as established by the PCI Security Standards Council, founded by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc.
"Website security is top of mind for customers conducting business on our sites," said Shamoun Siddiqui, Manager, Information Security, CVS Caremark. "We take security and compliance challenges very seriously as we've seen more issues erupt in the public arena surrounding serious breaches with sensitive data housed online. Caremark is eager to engage with WhiteHat, an industry standard-bearer, for the certification program to demonstrate the measures we are taking to assure site visitors of the level of security we maintain across our websites."
The certification program is available at no additional charge for all WhiteHat Sentinel subscribers, at all service levels beginning May 4, 2009. Contact the WhiteHat sales office at (408) 343-8300 for more information or email at [email protected].
