PRESS RELEASE
BOULDER, Colo. and SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 9, 2011 – Symplified', the Cloud security company, and CipherCloud, the cloud encryption gateway company, today announced a partnership to address the public cloud’s two leading security challenges: application and data security. The companies will deliver integrated, gateway-based solutions that combine identity and access management (IAM) with data encryption to comprehensively secure cloud applications and protect sensitive data against emerging cloud threats. Together, Symplified and CipherCloud will enable customers to implement layered security that prevents unauthorized access to applications, secures underlying data, and maintains an audit trail for regulatory compliance.
“Single sign-on capabilities combined with centralized policy-based access control and encryption are all crucial components to properly maintain authentication, user identity, and data protection when organizations adopt Software as a Service and other cloud based services,” says Lawrence Pingree, Gartner Research Director.
To address data governance in the cloud, Symplified and CipherCloud will integrate their respective IAM and encryption gateways to enable centralized security policy enforcement and identity-based encryption. This combined solution allows organizations to extend access control, single sign-on, and user management to cloud applications while applying format and operations-preserving encryption to data based on enterprise data protection policies. Together, Symplified and CipherCloud’s audit capabilities also provide visibility into cloud application and data usage for regulatory compliance reporting.
“CipherCloud and Symplified are solving the two biggest challenges organizations face in moving to the cloud — data protection and access control,” said Pravin Kothari, founder and CEO, CipherCloud. “The award-winning technology each company brings to this relationship will form a game-changing solution that addresses the key impediments to global cloud adoption.”
