SurfControl Safeguards Scout Jamboree
SurfControl is to provide Internet protection for 40,000 14- to 18-year-olds at the largest World Scout Jamboree
LONDON -- SurfControl (LSE:SRF), a leading provider of global on-demand, network and endpoint security solutions is to provide Internet protection for 40,000 14 - 18 year olds at the largest World Scout Jamboree.
The centenary Jamboree will take place between July 28th and August 8th at Hylands Park near Chelmsford in Essex, and will host up to 40,000 Scouts from all over the world working for global peace and friendship.
SurfControl’s Web Filter software will be deployed free of charge on around 700 PCs at the event to protect up to 45,000 unique users - both Scouts and staff – from malicious or inappropriate material on the Internet. Scouts will be prevented from accessing websites known to contain pornographic, sexual and violent content. In addition, Web Filter will help prevent malware such as Trojans, viruses and worms from entering the network.
The Scout Association has chosen to implement SurfControl’s Internet security solution at their event to ensure continuous protection of young people from the growing threats and risks associated with being online.
Simon Carter from The Scout Association said, “The Jamboree’s huge network of computers, complete with Internet access, will be used for everything from administration to activities and Internet cafés. It’s vital that the young people coming together for this gathering for peace will be protected from inappropriate web material.
“All the National Scout Organisations from around the world will also be using the Internet to communicate with their home countries; to tell the world about the Jamboree and about Scouting. We want to ensure that everyone has the best, once-in-a-lifetime, experience possible - using SurfControl’s Web Filter software will allow us to do just that. In addition SurfControl have kindly provided their solution to us free of charge, meaning we can keep our Scouts safe whilst keeping our costs down.”
