PRESS RELEASE
VERO BEACH, Fla. – 7/9/13 – SpectorSoft, the leader in insider threat detection, today announced that its Spector 360 employee activity monitoring software is HP ArcSight Common Event Format (CEF)-certified. This partnership allows organizations using the SIEM solution to integrate employee activity and behavior intelligence streams into HP ArcSight. With this integration, organizations gain comprehensive visibility into employee activities that take place on corporate-owned computers as well as keyword-based and activity-based alerts for activities that warrant investigation. Organizations relying on SIEM solutions as a critical part of their IT security infrastructure can normally just monitor employee interactions with systems and data. With no visibility into what employees are actually doing, those organizations only have a fragmented and speculative picture of overall risks. HP ArcSight's ability to utilize granular user activity from Spector 360 closes the gap on employee-driven insider threats, reducing the risk of data breaches, employee theft, fraud and brand damage.
Current SIEM solutions provide security intelligence on the status of data and systems but are unable to provide detailed visibility into precisely what employees are doing with corporate-owned computers and information. By streaming intelligence on user activity into HP ArcSight, Spector 360 increases the level of visibility into employee-driven security events and risky activities. HP ArcSight customers taking advantage of the SpectorSoft integration will be able to analyze a comprehensive set of user activity data about email sent and received, chat/IM/BBM, websites visited, application use, Web searches, file transfers, data printed or saved to removable devices, keystrokes and BlackBerry usage. Additionally, customers can configure their deployments to provide ArcSight with keyword-based and activity-based alert data to identify critical activity requiring further investigation. Visibility into these types of actions and alerts significantly increases the ability of HP ArcSight customers to identify data theft, data loss, data corruption and deletion, employee fraud, identity theft and productivity loss. The solution also gives context to questionable events, enabling organizations to identify possible problems sooner and with greater confidence in their evidence.
"As we've seen in the Edward Snowden and other insider-threat cases, organizations are under constant attack from employees looking to gain access to valuable information that can lead to extreme financial and security consequences," said Mike Tierney, vice president of operations. "This partnership brings advanced threat-detection capabilities to a wide range of organizations using the HP ArcSight solution, strengthening protection against malicious employees and closing doors on the insider threat."
