LAS VEGAS -- Sensory Networks, the leader in acceleration technology for network security applications, today announced NodalCore acceleration for Apache SpamAssassin, an industry-leading open-source spam filter. Sensory boosts SpamAssassin‘s performance up to 500 times, scanning up to 1.6 million email messages per hour.
Run by the non-profit Apache Software Foundation, SpamAssassin is one of the security industry’s main spam-filters used by businesses and individuals worldwide. The Sensory solution drops invisibly into existing SpamAssassin installations and instantly boosts performance by up to 500 times – no integration work is required. An appliance running NodalCore accelerated SpamAssassin can scan up to 1.6 million email messages an hour. To take advantage of these performance gains, security appliance vendors using SpamAssassin can simply install a PCI card and packages from Sensory Networks.
“Email spam is becoming a bigger problem and often tied to phishing scams, so it is important to provide an effective solution that can keep up with more sophisticated threats,” said Justin Mason, creator of SpamAssassin and project management committee member for Apache’s SpamAssassin project. “With NodalCore-accelerated SpamAssassin, security appliance vendors can now deliver an effective anti-spam solution without slowing down performance or experiencing any system interruptions.”
