Security Processor Increases Data Center Security
Freescale announces support from Silicom and Green Hills Software for its C29x crypto coprocessor
March 5, 2014
PRESS RELEASE
SAN FRANCISCO (RSA Conference USA 2014) – Feb. 26, 2014 – As sophisticated cyber attacks on highly visible organizations are on the rise and network data security concerns continue to grab headlines worldwide, Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL) is helping to enhance the security of the world's data centers, cloud services and web servers by collaborating with partners to expand the ecosystem and availability of its flagship C29x security coprocessor.
Two of the most recognized names in embedded security -- Silicom Ltd. and Green Hills Software – have worked with Freescale to establish new solutions based on the C29x crypto coprocessor. Both solutions are engineered to provide exceptionally high levels of security and performance. A highly advanced C29x-based production-capable board from Silicom, and a robust, C29x-optimized version of Green Hills Software's INTEGRITY® real-time operating system (RTOS) are designed to help systems designers and OEMs secure the world's cloud services and data centers.
"With data security top-of-mind across the industry, Freescale and its partners are working on C29x-based solutions that deliver exceptional performance for the exchange and authentication of public keys in data centers," said Nikolay Guenov, director of product management for Freescale's Digital Networking business. "By combining Freescale's security acumen and world-class cryptography technology with the well-established security expertise of Silicom and Green Hills Software, Freescale is working to foster trust and confidence for the world's cloud services and data centers in these times of uncertainty."
An industry-leading provider of high-performance networking and data infrastructure solutions, Silicom has created a new C29x PCI-E card - the first production C29x board for OEMs to incorporate in their systems. This solution offers industry-leading encryption performance to accelerate public key processing in servers, data centers and security appliances. In addition, Green Hills Software, an industry leader in embedded RTOS technology and a long term partner of Freescale, has ported its acclaimed, security-certified INTEGRITY RTOS to the C29x coprocessor. This combination creates an ideal solution for secure key management applications, which require highly "trusted" architectures to ensure encryption keys are secure in such applications as online banking and video-on-demand servers.
The Green Hills INTEGRITY RTOS and Embedded Cryptographic Toolkit are available now from Green Hills Software. Silicom plans to sample its C29x-based board in early Q2 2014, with production planned for mid-year.
