PRESS RELEASE
MORRISTOWN, N.J. – June 3, 2013 – DataMotion (www.datamotion.com), an established cloud-based secure data delivery provider, today announced that it has been issued U.S. patent No. 8447967 for its SecureMail Desktop technology. SecureMail Desktop enables users to easily send secure email messages from their desktop email client to anyone they wish – even if the recipients do not have special encryption software or keys. This is the second U.S. patent DataMotion has been granted for its SecureMail technology, a secure delivery system used to protect sensitive information sent through email messages and file attachments.
Using DataMotion's newly patented technology, senders of secure email are provided with a personalized plug-in, called SecureMail Desktop, that installs a button within their desktop email client, such as Microsoft® Outlook®, IBM® Notes® or Novell® GroupWise®. Following the plug-in install, users simply need to click the SecureMail button rather than the normal "send" button to securely transmit emails containing sensitive information. SecureMail automatically encrypts the email and sends it to its intended recipient – without the need for key exchanges or other complex procedures. Secure messages that are created by offline users reside in the email client outbox and are sent automatically when an Internet connection is established.
"DataMotion SecureMail was designed to seamlessly integrate with standard email clients, so users can send secure, yet transparent email to anyone, anywhere, anytime without having to learn complicated systems or deal with the hassle of exchanging keys or downloading encryption software," said Bob Janacek, CTO, DataMotion. "We understand that achieving security and compliance largely comes down to employee adherence of outlined policies and technologies. If a solution is difficult to use or impedes business processes, employees will no doubt turn to insecure workarounds, leaving an organization at risk. With SecureMail, secure and compliant data delivery can be achieved through the click of a button."
In 2004, DataMotion was issued U.S. patent No. 6684348 for developing a method for secure transmission of messages where recipient accounts and inboxes are automatically created. This provides a familiar, convenient way to view and exchange sensitive data.
