PRESS RELEASE
ISMANING, Germany, March 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SCM Microsystems, Inc., a leading provider of solutions for secure access, secure identity and secure exchange, is expanding its smart card reader and terminal portfolio with three new products that address different physical and logical access control applications. The devices are addressing the latest market requirements regarding security and convenience.
Based on a Memorandum of Understanding with Sony Corporation to develop and supply FeliCa contactless card readers for international markets, SCM developed the PAT1461 physical access control terminal. In line with SCM's strategy and focus on contactless applications and markets, the new terminal supports Sony's FeliCa contactless technology. FeliCa is based on radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and enables flexible and secure contactless transactions, making it useful for a variety of applications. The first installation of the physical access control terminal is in Sony's office in Brussels, Belgium.
The SPR332 PINpad reader is suitable for a range of applications requiring secure PIN entry. As the reader allows authentication processes to be securely executed within the device, the PIN is protected from theft. Hence, the reader is ideal for digital signatures, authentication and verification applications. The reader supports secure e-Commerce, eHealth and similar applications where securing of private data is key.
SCR339 is a PC keyboard with an integrated ID-1 (credit card format) contact smart card reader. It is based on SCM's STC3 chip, and is suitable for a wide range of applications, for example protected PIN (Personal Identification Number) entries, authentication for web services such as home banking or electronic payments, digital signing of documents or data encryptions. The SCR339 can be ordered in several language options and branded with a customer logo.
The products are immediately available worldwide.
