Free "Virtualization Security 101" webinar planned for April 23

Redwood City, CA-April 7, 2009-Altor Networks and SANS Institute announced today that they will jointly deliver the first ever "Virtualization Security 101" complimentary webinar on Thursday, April 23rd. Dave Shackleford, author of the SANS Virtualization Security and Operations course, and Todd Ignasiak, Altor Networks Director of Product Management, will discuss the security risks associated with virtual networks.
"With its benefits comes a dark side though, since virtualization technology is the focus of many new potential threats and exploits, and presents new vulnerabilities that must be managed," said Mr. Shackleford . "Organizations should make sure they plan for adequate network access controls, user permissions, and traditional security controls within virtual environments."
Today, server virtualization is being implemented at a rapid pace to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Like any new widespread technology, virtualization is also the focus of many new potential threats and exploits. Security professionals are either scrambling to catch up or helping to plan virtualization projects in many organizations, and some of the questions they have are:
Why is the virtual network different from the physical network and what security implications does that have?
